Elvis Costello & The Imposters entertained the Ryman Auditorium crowd with three hour 7-0-7 Tour
The Tennessean: Audrey Gibbs: January 2024
On Monday night, British singer-songwriter Elvis Costello walked onto
the stage of the Ryman Auditorium, clad in a red fedora and sunglasses,
shouting, “Is this Nashville?” The audience screamed back “Yes!” “Is
this Nashville?” he repeated with more enthusiasm. “Yes!” the sold-out
crowd bellowed.
Costello hit the stage with his band The Imposters,
comprised of Steve Nieve on the keys, Pete Thomas on drums and Davey
Faragher on bass and backing vocals. Guitarist Charlie Sexton, known for
his years as part of Bob Dylan’s band, also performed alongside
Costello.
The crew delivered a nearly three-hour long set of
genre-bending tunes to a rowdy Ryman crowd. But if there is anywhere to
lay it all out on the line, Costello says it’s the Ryman.
