DEFEND VINYL PIRATE RADIO – 15-01-22
Just these few lines to thank everyone who joined “Defend Vinyl Pirate Radio” from all around the world, on an afternoon in Patagonia to the late afternoon in Stoke-On-Trent, from early evening St. Petersburg, Russia to very early morning in Tokyo.
I was spinning records – sometimes at the correct speed and playing music from “The Boy Named If” and songs new and older pals.
Thanks go to Graham and Paul and everyone who helped me have a big time down the little basement of “Defend Vinyl” – superb independent record shop at 395 Smithdown Road, Liverpool 15.
I urge you to check out the riches of the racks in this shop and the many other independent record emporiums around the globe.
That “Defend Vinyl” is located just over three minutes from my Ma’s first house, in Holmes Street, off Smithdown Road in Liverpool 8 was not lost one me.
My mother left school at 14 in 1943 and took a job as what was then called a “Gramophone Record Sales Assistant”. She loved music all her life and passed almost a year ago in January 2021.
Like a lot of families, we were obliged to accept that we were only able to have a rather surreal virtual memorial service, so I have to thank everyone at Defend Vinyl and everyone who dialed us in on Saturday night for joining me at Lillian’s virtual wake.
