Artists unite for One Campaign on Bruce Springsteen's song
Mumford & Sons and Elvis Costello linked up for a serious cause amid the carefree vibe at the Sasquatch! Festival in Washington last month. With the G8 summit approaching on June 17th and 18th in Northern Ireland, Costello and Mumford & Sons partnered with the One Campaign's new initiative, the anti-poverty push agit8, for a cover of Bruce Springsteen's 1995 track "The Ghost of Tom Joad."
For their intimate cover, Costello and Mumford & Sons added a bit of Woody Guthrie's "Do Re Mi" to Springsteen's original. "We wouldn't know what to say, so it's quite helpful to have music that says things for you," Marcus Mumford said.
Tom Morelle, Ed Sheeran, will.i.am, Kid Rock, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and fun, are among the artists who have also joined the agit8 campaign with their own protest songs.
