ELVIS COSTELLO’S SOLO “DETOUR” CONTINUES IN OCTOBER WITH MORE US DATES

12 new shows confirmed for the Midwest and South, including Austin City
Limits Live and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

After playing a series of overseas shows, Elvis Costello will continue
his solo “Detour” tour in the US with 12 shows across the Midwest and
South, including Austin City Limits Live in Austin, TX, and Nashville’s
legendary Ryman Auditorium.

These critically acclaimed “Detour” shows have been Costello’s first
performances following the publication of his best-selling 2015 memoir,
“Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink” (Blue Rider Press/Penguin Random
House).

This October, expect the same “disarmingly revealing” and “uproariously
funny” (LA Times) performances as Costello plays his best known songs
and selected favorites with just a piano and guitar, all in front of a
giant television set projecting family photos, mysteries, mottos, and
other mischief.

Here’s what Billboard has to say about Costello’s “Detour”: “the effects
of writing and promoting [his memoir] are felt throughout his
part-scripted, part-freestyle ‘Detour’ show, which takes into account
that fans have to come to enjoy hearing Costello tell droll stories
nearly as much as they like hearing him snarl and coo his way through
one of the great songbooks of rock history.”

Here’s what critics have to say about Costello’s “Detour”:

“The show he delivered…dovetails beautifully with his book, giving his
audience anecdotes from his life both disarmingly revealing and often
uproariously funny.” – LA Times: April 3rd, 2016

“It was a fresh way of hearing the impressively energetic and still
impishly bespectacled 61-year-old drawing the dots between the wildly
different styles he has dipped into…Costello wrenched and wrangled his
guitar with the calm fury of a serial killer, but the sound could
sometimes not match his powerfully expressive voice, still one of the
most distinctive Scouse American drawls in music” – The Telegraph (UK):
May 11th, 2016

“It was the kind of special night that the 61-year-old Costello can
seemingly deliver with ease so comfortable is he on stage with just an
array of guitars, a grand piano and a microphone…a night that few
besides Costello could create.” – Orange County Register: April 4th,
2016
